Project Accountant (Entry Level)

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and reviews owner billings including collection of necessary lien waivers, invoices, and other documents
  • Processes subcontracts, subcontract change orders, insurance, and payments to subcontractors
  • Maintains accurate job cost budget information
  • Ensures payments are made consistent with document requirements
  • Collects/tracks supplier lien waivers and processes payments consistent with accounting policies and best practices
  • Analyzes the financial performance of a project and communicates and addresses concerns with appropriate parties
  • Communicates information to the project team and all related parties concerning the financial aspects of the project including status of payments from owners, payment to vendors and performance of the project in relation to the budget

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 0-3 years accounting experience, preferably in construction and or real estate (Internship experience acceptable)
  • CMiC knowledge/experience a plus (not required)

Skills and Abilities:

  • Functional/Technical Skills—understanding of accounting practices required for financial performance of a construction project
  • Priority Setting—focuses efforts and time on what’s most important by identifying the critical few priorities; plans for and adjusts to problems and roadblocks; creates a focus for self and others
  • Problem solving/Analysis—able to use a variety of tools, techniques, and approaches
  • Team Member Relationships— strong sense of accountability; self-starter and motivator; takes initiative; ability to handle and resolve confrontation with diplomacy
  • Communications Skills—effective in a variety of presentation settings; able to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles; practices attentive/active listening
  • Organizing—able to marshal resources (materials, support) to lead projects to successful conclusion; able to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
